Sizing & Dimensions

What is the maximum width you can manufacture?

We manufacture custom shades up to 24 feet wide — among the largest in the industry. This makes us ideal for modern floor-to-ceiling windows, media walls, and commercial applications where most competitors can't go beyond 10 feet.

What is the maximum height for a shade?

We can typically manufacture shades up to 15-20 feet in height, depending on the fabric thickness and roller tube diameter. For extremely tall windows, contact us for a custom consultation.

Do 24-foot shades require special mounting?

Yes. Shades of this size include heavy-duty brackets, reinforced tubes, and often a center support bracket to prevent bowing. All specialized hardware is included with your order at no extra charge.

Can a 24-foot shade be manual (non-motorized)?

While technically possible, we strongly recommend motorization for shades over 12 feet due to fabric weight. Manual operation becomes difficult and can cause premature wear on the mechanism.

Is there a seam in oversized fabric?

Depending on the fabric roll width, some oversized shades may require a horizontal "railroaded" seam. Our builder will alert you during fabric selection if your dimensions require one.

Does the width measurement include the brackets?

No. Provide your exact window opening measurement (tip-to-tip). Our factory calculates all necessary deductions to ensure the brackets and shade fit perfectly within your specified space.

Specialty Shapes

What specialty window shapes can you make shades for?

We manufacture custom shades for 10+ specialty shapes:

How do I measure a triangle window?

Use our Measuring Guide for step-by-step instructions. For triangles, you'll need the base width, vertical height, and slope length. You can also upload a photo to our AI Visualizer and click the corners — our system calculates the geometry for you.

Do specialty shape shades actually roll up?

It depends on the shape. Some specialty shades are stationary (fixed), while others use specialized angled tracking that allows operation. Our builder specifies the operation type based on your exact shape and dimensions.

Why are specialty shapes more expensive than rectangles?

Specialty shapes require manual laser cutting, specialized internal components, and custom engineering to ensure the fabric hangs correctly on an angle. Each specialty shade is essentially a one-of-a-kind product built to your exact specifications.

What is a "Right Triangle - Left" vs "Right Triangle - Right"?

Right Triangle - Left: The 90° angle is on the bottom-left corner.
Right Triangle - Right: The 90° angle is on the bottom-right corner.

Stand inside your room facing the window to determine the correct orientation.

Can you make circular or arched window shades?

We specialize in architectural polygons (triangles, trapezoids, pentagons, hexagons). For circles and true arches, please contact our design team for a custom quote.

Can I see how a fabric looks in my actual room before ordering?

Yes! Upload a photo of your room to our AI Room Visualizer, and it will digitally install your chosen fabric over your windows. This works for all shapes including triangles and trapezoids.

Fabrics & Materials

What is the difference between Solar, Light Filtering, and Blackout?

Solar Shades: Block UV rays and heat while maintaining your view. You can see out during the day, but others can't easily see in. Best for living rooms and offices.

Light Filtering: Softly diffuse light for privacy and a gentle glow. You cannot see through them. Best for bathrooms and general privacy.

Blackout: 100% opaque fabric that blocks all light. Best for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms.

Do blackout shades block 100% of light?

The fabric itself is 100% opaque. However, light can enter around the edges. For complete darkness, we recommend adding Side Channels which block light gaps on the sides of the window.

Can I get free fabric samples?

Yes! Order up to 10 free fabric swatches via our builder. Samples ship free via USPS and typically arrive within 3-5 business days. We strongly recommend ordering samples to see colors in your own lighting.

Are your fabrics fire-rated?

Yes. Most of our collections are NFPA 701 certified for commercial use. This is required for hotels, offices, healthcare, and other commercial applications.

Are the fabrics safe for children?

Yes. Our fabrics are GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions, making them safe for homes, schools, and healthcare facilities. Additionally, our motorized shades are cord-free, eliminating strangulation hazards.

Which fabric is best for heat reduction?

Our Solar Roller Shades with reflective backings are designed specifically to reject solar heat. Look for fabrics with high "openness factor" ratings for the best combination of view and heat rejection.

Are the fabrics waterproof?

Many fabrics are moisture-resistant and suitable for high-humidity areas like bathrooms. Check the fabric specifications in our builder or contact us for recommendations.

How do I clean my shades?

Most fabrics are vinyl-coated and easy to maintain:

  • Regular dusting: Use a feather duster or soft vacuum attachment
  • Spot cleaning: Damp cloth with mild soap
  • Deep cleaning: Wipe down with mild dish soap and water
  • Never use: Harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners

Motorization & Smart Home

Are the motors battery-powered or hardwired?

We offer both options:

  • Battery-powered: Internal rechargeable lithium-ion motors. Charge once or twice a year via micro-USB cable.
  • Hardwired: For new construction or homes with existing low-voltage wiring. Requires 12V/24V power.
Do motorized shades work with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit?

Yes! By adding our Smart Hub upgrade, you can control your shades via voice commands, smartphone app, or automation routines. The hub connects to your WiFi and bridges your shades to all major smart home platforms.

How loud are the motors?

Our motors are "Whisper Quiet," operating at less than 40dB — roughly the sound of a library. You'll barely notice them.

Do I need a separate remote for every shade?

No. One 15-channel remote can control up to 15 individual shades or groups. You can also create scenes like "Good Morning" that open all shades at once.

Can I set schedules for my shades?

Yes. Using the Automate Pulse app (requires Smart Hub), you can schedule shades to open at sunrise, close at sunset, or follow any custom schedule you create.

What is the Sun Sensor?

An optional addon that automatically closes your shades when a certain brightness level is detected. Great for protecting furniture, artwork, and flooring from UV damage and heat.

How long do the batteries last?

Approximately 500 up/down cycles per charge. For most users, that's 6-12 months between charges. We include a 10ft micro-USB charging cable, and any standard phone charger works as a replacement.

Do the motors work if the WiFi goes out?

Yes. The handheld remote uses Radio Frequency (RF) and works regardless of your internet connection. Only app control and voice commands require WiFi.

Can I stop the shade at any position?

Yes. You can stop motorized shades at any point and set custom "favorite" positions for quick access.

Measuring & Pro Services

What is the 100% Fit Guarantee?

If you follow our Measuring Guide or use our Pro Measurement service and your shades don't fit, we remake them for free. No questions asked. We also cover return shipping on the originals.

What is "Inside Mount" vs "Outside Mount"?

Inside Mount: Shade installs inside the window frame for a clean, built-in look. Requires minimum 2.5" depth.

Outside Mount: Shade mounts on the wall or trim above the window. Best for maximum light blockage or when depth is limited.

How much does Professional Measurement cost?

It's a flat fee (typically around $100) regardless of how many windows you have. The fee is credited back to your order when you place your final shade order.

Do you offer Pro Measurement in my area?

Our network covers 95% of the US. Enter your zip code during checkout to see availability in your area.

Should I measure in inches or centimeters?

Please provide all measurements in inches, rounded to the nearest 1/8". Our equipment is calibrated for extreme precision.

Do I need to deduct anything for hardware?

No. Give us the exact opening size. Our factory makes all necessary deductions for brackets and operating clearance.

Ordering & Shipping

How long does production take?

Standard production is 3-5 business days. Shipping adds an additional 2-4 days via FedEx Ground. Most customers receive their shades within 7-10 business days of ordering.

Is shipping really free?

Yes! We offer free ground shipping on all orders within the contiguous United States. Oversized freight shipping may apply for extremely large shades (24+ feet).

Do you ship to Canada or internationally?

Not currently through our automated builder. Please contact us for a custom international quote.

Can I track my order?

Yes. You'll receive a tracking link via email as soon as your order leaves our facility.

What if my shade arrives damaged?

Report it within 7 days of delivery. We'll ship a replacement immediately at no cost to you. Take photos of the damage for our records.

Can I return a custom shade?

Because every shade is custom-made to your exact specifications, we cannot accept returns for buyer's remorse. However, our 100% Fit Guarantee covers remakes if shades don't fit when you follow our measuring guide.

  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Level
  • Step ladder

See our complete Installation Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Are brackets and mounting hardware included?

Yes. All mounting brackets, screws, and hardware are included with your order at no extra charge.

Can I install these myself?

Most standard shades can be DIY installed in 15-20 minutes per window. For shades wider than 12 feet or complex specialty shapes, we recommend professional installation.

Do you offer professional installation?

Yes. Our network of certified installers covers 95% of the US. Select "Pro Installation" during checkout to add this service.

What is a "Cassette"?

A sleek metal housing that hides the roller tube and fabric for a clean, finished look. Popular in modern and minimalist interiors.

What is a "Fascia"?

A flat metal cover used in modern and commercial spaces to hide the roller tube. More streamlined than a cassette.

What are "Side Channels"?

U-shaped tracks that the fabric slides into, eliminating light gaps on the sides of the window. Essential for true blackout in bedrooms and media rooms.

What is "Reverse Roll"?

Standard roll: fabric hangs behind the tube. Reverse roll: fabric hangs in front of the tube. Reverse roll is useful when you need extra clearance for window handles or trim.

Troubleshooting

My shade won't stay up (manual shade)

The tension spring needs more tension. Roll the shade up fully, remove from brackets, manually rotate the tube 3-4 additional turns in the rolling direction, and reinstall.

My shade is rolling crooked (telescoping)

One bracket is slightly off-level. Loosen the bracket screws, use a level to adjust, and retighten. Even small misalignments can cause telescoping.

My remote isn't working

Check the battery (usually CR2450) and ensure the shade is paired to the correct channel. See our Installation Guide for re-pairing instructions.

My motorized shade isn't responding

The battery may be depleted. Connect the micro-USB charging cable and wait 30 minutes before testing. A full charge takes 4-6 hours.

My fabric has wrinkles

Most shipping wrinkles disappear within 48 hours of hanging. For stubborn wrinkles, use a handheld steamer on low heat, keeping it at least 6 inches from the fabric.

My shade is making a clicking sound

Ensure the bracket is fully engaged and the end plug is properly seated. The shade should "click" securely into place when properly installed.

I lost my charging cable

Our motors use a standard Micro-USB connector. Any phone charger with a Micro-USB cable will work.
